Nuphedrine Ingredients
Nuphedrine contains mainly three key ingredients, and they are Hoodia Gordonii, Advantra-z (patented form of citrus aurantium), and Slimaluma (an extract of Caralluma Fimbriata).
Hoodia Gordonii is a traditional African plant that has long been used by African tribesmen to reduce hunger during long hunting trips. What made Hoodia famous is the compound P57, which was first isolated back in 1977, which was found to have appetite suppressing effects. It was patented in 1996, and there are studies that have confirmed the appetite suppressing properties of Hoodia Gordonii leading to a decrease in body mass.
There are many fake and ineffective hoodia diet pills on the market, and there are even hoodia diet pills that name their products similar to compound P57 such as Hoodia X57 and Hoodia H57. Studies have found Hoodia to be an effective appetite suppressant helping users reduce food consumption, and reduce body weight.
Advantra-Z is a patented form of citrus aurantium. It is a source of Synephrine which has been claimed to have weight loss effects; however, as various clinical studies have shown, the effectiveness of Synephrine for weight loss is at best debatable. Some studies have found it to have some limited weight loss effects (although at high doses), while other studies have found it to have no weight loss benefits.
One study performed on citrus aurantium at the Georgetown University found that there is very little evidence to support the claim that citrus aurantium is an effective weight loss supplement, and that the its lipolytic effects are observed with only very high doses.
Slimaluma is the third ingredient in Nuphedrine. It is a standardized extract of Caralluma Fimbriata, and as been used in India as a portable food and also as an appetite suppressant. There is a very limited amount of small clinical trials that have studied the effectiveness of Slimaluma. One Indian study involving 50 men and women found that supplementing with Caralluma Fimbriata led to a reduced appetite and food consumption. While there were noted decrease in body weight and body fat, the difference between the test group vs. the control group was not significant.
As you can see, the ingredients in Nuphedrine are not as they are hyped up to be by Nuphedrine. While some of these ingredients have shown some weight loss benefits, the effectiveness of some are still debatable, and lacking more substantial research to back up the claims. At a cost of $75 per box, it’s certainly not cheap for a diet pill that contains only three ingredients with two of the ingredients that still require further research.
Instead of wasting money on another over hyped diet pill, why not spend much less and learn the true method of long term, healthy weight loss that will lead to permanent weight loss results - without the excitement and hype, of course.
